Hi,

I am planning my interrail trip for may and june this summer from the Netherlands to some cities in the Iberian peninsula.
I wanted to take the TGV from Paris to Irun and then the Sud-expresso to Lisbon. However, the TGV has not a daily connection to Irun. Does anyone know if there is an alternative?

Thanks,

Joop

Hi Joop.

Have a look at this link:
https://rail.cc/en/night-train/irun-lisbon-th-313/73

The TGV runs daily until the 11th Jun 2011 (then there is the official change in the schedules - but it won't change I am sure)
Attention: between the 7th and the 30th May 2011 The TGV only runs between Tuesday and Friday.

Peter :)

Hi!

We have planned to go from Paris to Lisbon on May the 14th, on a Saturday. I saw that you wrote that TGV doesn't go then, what are the other alternatives?

How do I get from Paris to Lisbon over night at this date, and how much would it cost?

Hi.
I recommend you to use the connection leaving on Friday the 13th May from Paris:

Paris Montparnasse dep: 1550 | TGV
Irun arr: 2135
Irun dep: 2220 | night train
Lisboa Oriente arr: 1021

On Saturday (14th May) and Sunday (15th May) you have only very bad connections as you have to travel via Madrid.
Only as an example (still the best connection) leaving already on Saturday (14th May) morning in Paris:
Paris Montparnasse dep: 0700 | TGV
Irun arr: 1305

Irun dep: 1620 | Alaris - EUR 6,50 - https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/spain/es
Madrid-Chamartin arr: 2200

Madrid-Chamartin dep: 2225 | night train: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/madrid-to-lisbon
Lisboa Oriente arr: 0730

If you want to be on Sunday in Lisbon and it doesn't matter loosing one night in Paris, think about Paris - Pyrenees - Barcelona, then Barcelona - Madrid - Lisbon:

Thanks for the reply, I will try to figure something out to travel earlier.

How much are the total costs of traveling with the trains on a friday (TGV to Irun and the night train to Lisbon) with InterRail pass?

Hi.

TGV Paris - Irun: if you book early you get it for EUR 6 - seats are very limited. Otherwies you have to book it directly at the train for EUR 18
Irun - Lisbon: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/irun-lisbon-th-313/73

How do I make an early reservation for these two trains (TGV and the one from Irun to Lisbon) ? Can I do this online somewhere, or can I go to the train station here in Sweden and do it?

Hi!

I have no personal experience but it should be possible to get these reservations at main railway stations (Stockholm C, Malmö C, Göteborg C,...) but I cant guarantee it. If it is not possible you can make the reservations along your way at a station in Denmark, Germany, Benelux, France,...
You could also look at [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf/reservation[/ux], it should be possible to get the TGV reservation there.
