Hi everyone.
I have been doing a lot of research using this forum lately for my european trip at the end of this month. According to the info given here, there will be no reservation fee needed for IC trains in Italy. However, I have been very confused as there are conflicting information given from other sources that a 3 EUR reservation fee is compulsory and needed for IC trains in Italy.
Did the rules change? xo I certainly do not want to get chased down the train by the conductor for 3 EUR. :P
Any help is greatly appreciated! :D
Cheers!

Hi Yao!
For travelling on IC trains within Italy (aswell as in seated accomodation in ICN an E overnight trains) it is not necessary to buy a reservation - you can enter the train and travel without one. I got that confirmed this February in Rome. However, as regular tickets for this trains include a reservation it is advisable to get one too when travelling with InterRail/EuRail to have your seat guaranteed. Especially when travelling longer distances or overnight I would recommend to get such a reservation because reserved seats are not labelled and in case someone with a reservation claims your seat you'd have to move.

Thank you for the fast and detailed reply. I think I'll just fork out 3 EURO for the reservation just in case! Cheers! :D
