Hi, Im a first time interrailer and am planning to go summer 2011. I would to get a month interrailing pass and go to these places, however does anyone have any ideas where I should travel after Hamburg,

Ive read some suggestions about Krakow and Budapest. However it would be nice towards the end of the trip to relax at the beach, so a costal city would be great. Then I would fly home to England from there. Can anyone please advise me on what they would do?

Ps. Im not fussed about Italy, as I've already visited much of the country already. Bratislava and some places in Croatia look appealing too,

Thanks!
Charlotte

Hi.

Think about a route like this:
UK to the Netherlands: https://rail.cc/blog/from-london-to-amsterdam-with-the-dutchflyer/
Amsterdam-Bruges: use supplement free IC trains. Never use the expensive THALYS trains in Benelux and France.
Bruges-Paris: check connections, some examples on how to avoid the Thalys are here: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/thalys/41
Paris-Hamburg: try the night train. It is the cheapest way. Book early, you can do it online: https://rail.cc/en/paris-hamburg-night-train/f3761
Hamburg-Berlin: by supplement free ICE train.

If you have the possibility to start in Paris and travel the other way Paris-Bruges-Amsterdam-Hamburg-Berlin do it. :) It is easier and more comfortable.

Next steps could be ... Berlin - Prague - Krakow - Vienna - Budapest - Zagreb - Dubrovnik/Split/Rijeka = the Croatian beaches

Check the country topics for detailed information about night trains and connections:

The Croatian coast is amazing, and Dubrovnik is such a nice city, but can be busy during summer. It's a pitty you skip Belgium and the Netherlands, but I can understand if you want to do some more cities in East/South Europe.
