Hi,

My boyfriend and I are thinking of doing the above route. We want to do this within about 16 days. I am guessing the 10 in 22 days pass would be best for us?

Is this doable in this amount of time, spending 2 nights in each place say? There seems to be a lot of night trains involved which obviously incur supplements!

We are thinking of going next month, so not much time left to plan - any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks! :)

Hi.

Yes, the 10 in 22 is the best and cheapest option for you.
Night trains have different reservation fees, it depends at the type of bed or seat you want - but at the same time you save the money you would spent for a hostel.

Paris-Venice: the night train is the cheapest option. It is a long trip and day trains require expensive supplements:

Venice in direction of Croatia.
Use a day train to Ljubljana, either stay there or have a trip to Lake Bled, absolutely a must see:

Ljubljana-Zagreb: https://rail.cc/en/ljubljana-zagreb-train/f4001

Zagreb-Budapest: easy to do by day train - https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

Budapest-Bratislava: by day train - but think about having only a short stop at Bratislava and stay overnight in Vienna (more to see and to do, better night life, cheap hostels)

Bratislava-Prague: also by day train, just check the schedule planer and the country topics of our forum .

Prague-Berlin: https://rail.cc/en/prague-berlin-train/f3360

Berlin-Paris: https://rail.cc/en/berlin-paris-train/f2545

Nearly your whole trip is without supplements. I don't know where you are from...? The UK?
If this is the case, think about Berlin-Amsterdam (no extra fees), then by ferry from the Netherlands to the UK. Much cheaper than the Eurostar train trough the channel.

Hi, thanks so much for your advice! Looks like Lake Bled is definitely worth a visit. Didn't realise Vienna and Bratislava are so close, looks like we could easily do them both. Thanks again :D

Hi.

Lake Bled is easy to reach from Ljubljana: https://rail.cc/en/lake-bled-ljubljana-train/f4005
Use the schedule planer as well for details.

Bratislava to Vienna - frequent daily connections: https://rail.cc/en/bratislava-vienna-wien-train/f3972

Vienna-Prague:

Hi Peter,

Many thanks for your great advice about Bled, we arrived today and it is very beautiful!

We just have a quick question about train reservations. We have been looking up train timetables from Bled to Zagreb and from Zagreb to Budapest. On some parts of both journeys, it indicates a reservation is required (the EuroCity and the InterCity trains respectively). I have not done this, and can not do so online now! In your experience, how important are these reservations? Will we be OK just turning up and standing if need be?

Many thanks! :)

Hi.
Sorry for the late reply.
No need to buy these reservations long time in advance. I suppose these are Croatian IC reservations (around EUR 1,50 per train). Just ask at the stations - easy to get.
Peter :)
