Plitvice Lakes

Hey,

We have been looking at the Plitvice National Parks, and they look totally gorgeous. How do we get there though? Can we get there from split or somewhere like that? I think I read somewhere that Zagreb was a possible option, but Ive heard quite bad things about Zagreb...a few people didnt enjoy it too much - whats the general concensus here on it?
