Can anyone recommend a route for a two week holiday starting from Rome? My friend and I would like to travel to Rome, Ljubljana, Munich and Paris (and maybe Venice in between) but we only have 14-15 days in July/Sep 2014 to fit it all in. Also, we were thinking of flying to Rome first (we are London based) and then starting our journey from there. Do you think this is realistic?

We know that the places we want to visit are quite far away from each other- so we were thinking of using mainly night trains, which should also cut down our cost of accommodation, does anyone know whether there are additional costs for these, and whether there are night trains between all these places and if so, would you recommend using them?

I think that we want to spend a couple of days in each place- can anyone suggest a possible route?

Sorry for all the questions and thank you for any advice you can offer!

Hi.

Rome-Venice: avoid the Eurostar Italia trains, use free IC trains (see route planer: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route )

Venice-Ljubljana: https://rail.cc/en/venice-ljubljana-train/f3664

In Slovenia I recommend you a stop at Lake Bled.

Ljubljana-Munich: https://rail.cc/en/ljubljana-munich-night-train/f4000

Munich-Paris is possible by direct day or night train: https://rail.cc/en/munich-paris-night-train/f3775

If you want to save some money, add more laces in Eastern Europe.

Just as an example:

Italy - Budapest - Krakow - Prague - Berlin - Amsterdam - by ferry to the UK

Peter :)
