I just need a good digi camera for my 1 month backpacking alone (AGH!) in europe. all i need is:
- runns on AA batteries (incase i cant find charger)
- takes decent photos of people and places
- relatively hard wearing (im not going ot be throwing it of cliffy or anything)
- £0 - £150 is fiiine

thats it really, unless you can thing of anything else that would be necessary for this type of thing. what do you guys suggest?

ahh if only i spoke german, i liked the look of geizhals.at/a503762.html that one, the olympus sp-600. thanks for your help. you think this is hard waring enough, looks a little fragile.

I dont really have much experience with compact cameras..so cant tell you anything about the ruggedness of any of the models. However there are certain models that are said to be water and shock resistant but then again I dont know if they can handle AA batteries.
The list I provided should list all models available with AA batteries so maybe have a closer look (you can then search for details in English) if you find anything that suits your needs. :)

Nah, just a short trip during uni vacation...Rome and Sicily probably...maybe through Switzerland on the way home. :)

Panasonic Lumix TZ10 its the best camera you can take... it has gps great quality and zoom! i used it in my last trip and it was awesome! even sold some of the pictures on the web.
