Hiya,
I'm planning my interrail trip for August this year. I'm going with 7 friends, and a large part of our journey involves the TGV trains accross France, for Paris, Bordeaux, Toulouse and Marseille etc. Really I just have several questions on this topic;
1. Will there be enough seats for 8 interrailers because I have heard numbers are limited?
2. How far in advance should I book these trains? Whilst still in England? Or from each main station?
3. How much do you have to pay for these trains? Or is it simply the reservation fee?
Thankyou, any help appreciated! :)
Jake.

Hi Jake!
Officially the reservation fee in addition to your InterRail ticket is 6€. However, since the number of available seats for InterRailers is limited I would recommend to use this alternative way of getting your reservations: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/tgv-sncf/42
This worked fine for me last summer, had no chance to try it out since then but it shouldnt have changed - most staff is aware of the bad situation and will let you through.
I was travelling with a group of five in summer 2009 and we got tickets for the Paris - Lille TGV easily about a week in advance. However trains on this route are running half-hourly so the situation may be worse if you are going to Bordeaux, Toulouse etc...
I would try to get reservations for Paris - Bordeaux online in advance as described; Bordeaux - Toulouse and Toulouse - Marseille I would try to avoid TGV/TEOZ and rely on the TER that dont require a reservation instead.
You cant make these reservations at a station in the UK, but at the larger stations in France.
