Hi,

I need some help with going to Abisko and I was wondering if anyone could help me.
I'm coming from Oulu to Haparanda by bus and I checked sj.se
there's only one train leaving 650am and I can't be there at that time due to the bus schedule.. I've tried checking train schedules from lulea and kiruna as well, but no luck.

can anyone please recommend me some routes to reach Abisko?

Thank you!

Hi.

Haparanda has a railway station, but it is only open for freight transport - not for passengers.
You will have to change to the bus number 20 and continue to LuleƄ.
There you have connection to the railway network of Sweden.
The bus Haparanda - LuleƄ is included (at least this is my information from 2010).

Example:
Haparanda busstation dep: 0650 | Bus Nr. 20
Luleaa busstation arr: 0945
The bus station is just beside the train station. Easy to do!
Luleaa Central dep: 1030 | IC train
Abisko Turiststation arr: 1520

Is that IC train the only train between lulea and abisko?

the earliest bus from oulu to reach haparanda would be at 830am finnish time. if the journey from haparanda to lulea takes 2 hours, i'm not sure if i'll still make it.

is the free bus for everyone and anyone?

Cheers!

I had a look at the schedules and you wont get from Oulo to Abisko within one day. There is no train to Abisko after the 1030 departure from Lulea, so you will have to make a stop in between. :|

Hi,

I do agree with you.. it's really such a shame that I just missed the schedule by an hour the most! I'm still figuring alternative ways to get to abisko. Rather than waiting at haparanda and lulea, i checked the schedules for stockholm as well and it seems to me that there's no night trains operating to abisko!

There is a night train to/from Stockholm that stops in Abisko but it doesnt call at Lulea since it is on another railway route.

In my opinion there is no other sensible train connection to get to Abisko within a day.

Free for persons traveling on an InterRail pass - at least this was the case in 2010 - and should be as well the case for 2011. :)
