Hi!

Me and my friend from uni decided to go on holiday together over the summer holidays, and decided that interrail would be the cheapest way to indulge in some European culture. We have both travelled to varying places before but never by train.
Firstly... we wish to see both Italy and Greece by flying from the UK to either Austria or the North of Italy, and make our way (via the ferry in Bari) to Greece. Any advice on a route to take?

Secondly... is it unwise for two girls of 20 on our own to camp in these places

Thirdly... will visiting Greece be a problem since their problems surrounding their economic state during the recession.

Many thanks,

Claire and Becky

Hi Claire and Becky ...

For this summer I do not recommend to travel to Greece - in general Greece is more a bus travel country and now there are even more problems with their rail company. Please read this topic:

Maybe replace Greece by some Croatian beaches...?!?

Just some thoughts...

Starting in Austria, crossing the Alps to Italy - some cities in Italy.
Then to Slovenia (Lake Bled), Croatia (Split and Dubrovnik - or by bus along the coast).
Go on to Budapest and back to Vienna.
Close to Vienna (1 hour by train) you will find Bratislava where you will find good connections by Ryanair to the UK.

If you have the time, Krakow, Prague or Munich could be interesting as well in this corner.

Peter :)
