I'm hoping to travel from the UK to St. Petersburg, with about 7/8 stops on the way.
I've been told that I won't get any value out of the interrail ticket.
What do you think? Can I?

Hi.

Of course you can buy special offer tickets and find your way trough Europe on fixed dates.
Which might be sometimes cheaper with single tickets to discounted fares - especially if you travel on a route from A to B like you do.

But it depends on the way you want to travel.
If every date, route and hostel is fix, try to have a look on national railway companies special offers (you can not buy them all online, you have to buy some as well during your trip).
Pay attention: if you miss a train or you are in delay with international connections, the special discounted ticket will become worthless as it is fixed on the train you booked (date + time).

If you want to stay flexible and free, not to be fixed on trains, dates and times, the InterRail pass (for example the 5 travel days in 10 days) is a good deal.

Peter :)

It really depends on, what way you want to travel and where you would like to make stops. Generally I think that 5-in-10-days IR isn't enough, if you want to make 7-8 stops, the minimum is 10-in-22 days IR for 369 €. Second, consider that IR isn't valid in Russia, Belarus and Baltic states.
But write here your planned route and schedule and we can consider the cheapest variant.
