Hi ...
Spain, France and the Netherlands aren't as cheap for overnight stays.
Check this website to find out prices of hostels: [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux]
You can usually use the public transportation of the cities, no need to use taxis!
Try to have a small camping stove with you, it will save you a lot of money, as accommodation and food are the two parts you spent most on it.
Some tomatoes, noodles and cheese are always cheap to get. :)
Calculate like this per day (it might be more or less, depends on you):
- accommodation: EUR 25
- food EUR 5
- extras: EUR 5
TOTAL per day: 35-40 EUR
14 days X 40 EUR = 560 EUR plus the ticket - so you should be definitely fine with 1000 GBP :)
Always check the country topics where you will find a lot of information about train connections, saving you money:

On your way from Barcelona to Paris, cross the Pyrenees. It is cheaper than the direct way and you can use the Little Yellow Train . a bit like a roller coaster train:

We did Barcelona for only 300 Euro for a week, including train ticket. But we stayed at a friend, so that's why it was so cheap (as we went out A LOT) :-/
I find the food on trains is always terribly over-priced. I always take my own food and drink with me. That's just a little tip on how you can save a tiny bit. And yea, when you are there- supermarket food!
