Hi, going for my first InterRail, and I have no idea of what to visit, and what not to. I am from Norway, I have visited Denmark and Sweden before. Also been to Berlin,Warsaw, Krakow, Lübeck and Hamburg. I planned to jump on a flight to any good starting point, no need to waste a buttload of traveldays on Denmark and most of Germany. Any suggestions on travel-routes? I am quite the hobby-photographer, and I am interested in history and hiking-trips. The topic is just a suggestion, anywhere is just fine. My perfect day; if only Machu Pichu was in Europe... If you catch my drift.

EDIT: Planning on spending the next 4 years in the UK, no no rush to visit that either.

Hi.

I don't know how many days you want to travel, but a good starting point is definitely Berlin.
If you want to avoid flying to Berlin, there is a good connection Oslo to Berlin via Malmö in Sweden using a night train (only available in summer):

https://rail.cc/en/berlin-night-express-sweden-berlin/f1186

Berlin-Prague: https://rail.cc/en/berlin-prague-train/f3361

Prague-Krakow: https://rail.cc/en/prague-krakow-night-train/f4027
With a stop before in Auschwitz - see link for details.

Krakow-Budapest: https://rail.cc/en/krakow-budapest-night-train/f3305

From Budapest you have different options...

Either via Croatia (Zagreb) and Slovenia (Ljubljana, Lake Bled) to Venice.

Or via Vienna and then by night train to Venice - or by day train if you want love to watch mountains.

Depends on what you prefer.

Of course there are much more connections and combinations available. Just check the country topic:
https://rail.cc/en/countries
And the schedule planer: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

In Italy pay attention to the supplements. The best is to use the free IC trains (sometimes a reservation is recommended but not required).

Maybe think as well about adding Switzerland...
