So we're thinking of travelling from Rome and then to Vienna, Venice, Pisa, Florence, then getting the ferry to Croatia to see Zagreb and Split, then Budapest, then through Vienna to Auschwitz and then finally to Prague to fly home. Is this a sensible plan for a 22 day trip? Is there any chance anyone has any travel tips we could use?
Thanks in advance!

I would rather go in this direction:
Rome - Pisa - Florence - Venice - Split - Zagreb - Budapest - Auschwitz - Vienna - Prague... this would mean less criss-crossing central Europe, leaving you with more time to explore the cities. I'd say this can be done in 22 days. If not, you can always cut out Split, as it is somewhat off the route. Calculate a bit more time to explore Rome, Venice, Budapest, and Vienna, and a bit less in Pisa, and you'll be fine :) .
