With a 22 day continuous Inter Rail pass, planning this trip with a friend next summer. As a complete newbie, at this point I'm just asking for some basic advice and the essential question - is this route achievable? I've searched around the forums but some of the towns I've posted haven't been mentioned in huge detail, and I have estimates at the times it will take to travel between each city so I'm not posting totally unprepared. Barcelona can be eliminated if necessary, I know it's not going to be easy to travel there. :|
Arrive in Rotterdam by ferry from Hoek van Holland.
Train to Berlin, staying there hopefully for a few days.
Train to Krakow for a brief stop (is there a night train?) before a one-way to Oswiecim to visit Auschwitz. Finding a hostel there, before travelling . . .
Over the border to Vienna, quite flexible on this, but would like to stay there for a couple of days.
Further on to Switzerland and Bern, again a couple of days staying there.
Next Avignon in France, only a couple of days here as well.
Finally train to Barcelona, staying here for as many days we have left before catching a flight back to the UK.
Obviously we'll have to manage time very well, and forgive me if I've sounded very naive with this post, looking at route maps it seems fine but I wanted to ask the experts if this was possible. Thanks very much for your time. :)
P.S: Feel free to add any suggestions for removing or adding stops to the route!

Hi. :)
Think about adding Amsterdam on your way Rotterdam to Berlin. If you travel the direct way, you will be passing by Amsterdam in a distance of 30 minutes.
Traveling from Rotterdam or Amsterdam to Berlin is in most cases by one of these solutions:
https://rail.cc/en/amsterdam-berlin-train/f2346
Currently there is no direct night train between Berlin and Krakow:
https://rail.cc/en/berlin-krakow-gdansk-night-train/f1407
Think about traveling Berlin to Prague. Have a stop there as hostels are very cheap.
Berlin - Prague: https://rail.cc/en/berlin-prague-train/f3361
Prague - Krakow: https://rail.cc/en/prague-krakow-night-train/f4027
This night train stops at Oswiecim 04:36h in the morning. I know it is early. But you could have your visit in Auschwitz and continue in the evening to Krakow to get a cheap hostel and stay for some days.
Krakow - Vienna: https://rail.cc/en/warsaw-vienna-night-train/f1543
To Switzerland continue by day train - it depends on your route but usually it is a nice scenery.
Interesting routes could by using one of these trains (attention: extra supplements):
https://rail.cc/en/glacier-express/f1750
https://rail.cc/en/bernina-express/f1749
Then go on to France and Spain.
General information...
These routes and connections are only examples, there are much more connections available.

Thanks very much for the quick reply Peter, and the useful advice. :)
Amsterdam sounds good, and definitely worth our while for a direct to Berlin. I've been to Prague before and found it a brilliant city so stopping there also sounds like a good option. Thanks!
