Hello,

Me and my friend have to travel from Hungary to Switzerland (overnight) for one and/or two days twice within a month, and go back (overnight as well) as follows:

1. (departure) 20 Dec HUNGARY - (arrival) 21 Dec SWITZERLAND (departure the same day) 21 Dec - (arrival) 22 Dec HUNGARY
2. (departure) 16 Jan HUNGARY - (arrival) 17 Jan SWITZERLAND (departure the next day) 18 Jan - (arrival) 19 Dec HUNGARY

We are: Hungarian and Swiss, both adults (>26). We haven't bought IR passes yet.

What is the best option for us? Should we buy four (two plus two but different) IR passes for these countries or it's enough to buy only two of them, for each of us, and, if yes, which ones?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Best,
both of us

There is a direct overnight train from Budapest to Zürich, EN Wiener Walzer. Try the SparSchiene tickets, available at all Hunagrian international railway counters. Price begins at 39 € for seat, and 49 € for 6-berth couchette. If SparSchiene tickets are sold out, there are plenty of other discounted variants, see MÁV website http://mav-start.hu/utazas/kulfoldi_utazasi_ajanlatok.php?mid=1467fbec969606.
