I want to visit somewhere in Switzerland with mountains, lakes and/or glaciers. I already have a rough idea which cities I want to visit, but I want to see more natural sights too. Is there a particular place in Switzerland that could meet my needs? I'm looking for somewhere I could stay for 4-6 days.

I strongly recommend to have a look at the Berninaline from St Moritz to Tirano. If you want to spend more time there, there is a youth hostel at Pontresina right at the station from where the railway climbs up to 2253m asl. In Morteratsch (after Pontresina) there'd be a campsite as well.
At the top, around Ospiio Bernina it's stunningly beautiful. :)

- Around Vierwaldstätter See (Luzern, Zug,...) - go up to Rigi or Pilatus
- I also like the Rhone valley at Lac Léman

Relatively easily accessible (at least in spring and summer !) is the Aletsch glacier in the upper Rhone valley. You can use the MGB trains on the Brig - Andermatt - Göschenen line, getting out either at Mörel or Betten, and taking one of the funiculars to Riederalp or Bettmeralp, respectively. Note, however, that these are - obviously - not included in the InterRail pass, and I have no information on discounts. Note, more importantly, that InterRail is not valid on the MGB network (Disentis - Andermatt - Brig - Zermatt), offering a discount only to holders of InterRail Youth passes. Göschenen - Andermatt appears to be outside of the InterRail validity realm altogether, no discounts at all on that line.

- Göschenen - Andermatt is operated by MGB as well, so the 50% discount for <26 IR passes should apply as well.
- The funiculars dont offer reductions for InterRailers...
- The MGB issue (when travelling on the route of Glacier Express) is fully covered here: https://rail.cc/en/glacier-express/f1750

Hello,

I'd like to catch the Bernina Express from Tirano to Chur but will be in Milan just before. What's the best way to get from Milano to Tirano ?

Thanks

Christina

Hi!

There are direct trains only every two hours which leave Milano Centrale at 0620, 0820 and so on (weekdays). When do you arrive in Milano (from where)?
