I am trying to organise interrailing for a month in maybe july or august 2011. I am looking for suggestions for a good route to take. i definitely want to go to paris rome and amsterdam... in no particular order. I would be coming from ireland so will be taking a flight to my starting destination. I will also be getting the train ticket for one mointh continuous. any suggestions about good places to visit wnd where to start would be great :D !

Hi.
One month ... a lot of time.
I would include some Eastern-European cities, as there hostels and live is much cheaper.
Think about a route like this (just an idea and open for discussions):
Fly to Paris.
Paris - Amsterdam - Berlin - Prague - Krakow - Budapest - Slovenia/Croatia - Italy
Some example for train connections are in the country topics.
Examples:
Paris-Amsterdam: https://rail.cc/en/train/paris-to-amsterdam
Amsterdam-Berlin: https://rail.cc/en/amsterdam-berlin-train/f2346
...
Slovenia-Italy: https://rail.cc/en/ljubljana-venice-train/f3663

i have researched it further.. do you think starting in madrid then going to the south of france & then going to paris and following your suggested route would be realistic within the 22 days instead of a month? would this route be suitable for a group of college students looking for sunshine, good night life, nice sight seeing experiences and would it suit those on a budget? thank you for your help! :D

Hi.
Sounds good. But for 22 days a bit too much. If you want to save money, skip the French beaches in high season.
Better to stay some more days somewhere in Croatia.
If you want to include Spain, think about starting in Barcelona.
Trough the Pyrenees to Paris: https://rail.cc/blog/little-yellow-train-video/
Paris-Amsterdam: https://rail.cc/en/train/paris-to-amsterdam
Amsterdam-Berlin: https://rail.cc/en/amsterdam-berlin-train/f2346
Berlin-Prague: https://rail.cc/en/berlin-prague-train/f3361
Prague-Krakow: https://rail.cc/en/prague-krakow-night-train/f4027
Krakow-Budapest: https://rail.cc/en/krakow-budapest-night-train/f3305
And so on ... this are only examples, of course there are much more connections available.
For more details check the country topics: https://rail.cc/en/countries
As InterRail pass the 10 travel days in 22 InterRail Global Pass (10 in 22) would be a good and cheap solution for you.
For hostels check: [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux]

Thats definitely a very good route I think for a month. Enough time to see some of the 'key' cities of Europe, you'll be seeing quite a diverse range of culture too but also have enough time in each place to enjoy it. When I first went interrailing I moved through every city far too quickly and definitely regretted it when I got home.
