Hi!

There is no Estrella night train from Madrid to Irun. The expensive train you mean is the Elipsos Madrid - Paris. :arr: https://rail.cc/en/madrid-paris-night-train/f1134

A cheaper overnight alternative is to take the Alvia from Madrid to Hendaye and change there to the french Lunéa night train to Paris. :arr: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/france/fr

Timings for this connection:

Madrid Chamartin 1615 - 2203 Hendaye
Hendaye 2218 - 0711 Paris Austerlitz
