Hello, I was wondering if, since I am Portuguese, if he could catch a plane to a city and starts from this city? I'm thinking of doing an inter-rail with a group of eight people between the 8th and April 26th. We wanted to go in Amsterdam and Venice, but we could not plan a good route, if someone could help I appreciate it. The pass that we buy is 5 in 10 days.

Hi.
It is a good option to fly for example first to Amsterdam and start your trip from there - travel around Europe and fly back to Portugal.
As you will loose a lot of time from Portugal to Central Europe - it is simply a long distance.
An example route could be:

Fly to Amsterdam.
Amsterdam - Berlin - Prague - Krakow - Vienna (or Budapest) - Venice

All connections are listed at the country topics:

Thanks Peter. I had a doubt, do not know if it was forced to start in my country of residence or could catch a plane and get where I want. We liked to stop in Barcelona. Maybe catch a plane to Barcelona and from there to Paris or Venice and make a journey that would fit in those days. They also wanted help to know which cities can I get to sleep and recommend some hostels.

Hi.

For Barcelona have a look at this topic... it is very interesting and fun to cross the Pyrenees - and it is definitely cheaper than to use the direct night train:
https://rail.cc/blog/little-yellow-train-video/

For Barcelona to Italy you will need a stop for example in Nice.
https://rail.cc/en/train/marseille-to-nice

Information about hostels and their rankings is here: [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux]

Yes, Peter we were thinking of spending at least one times the Pyrenees by train and also pass on the beaches of Nice. Spend an afternoon there on the beaches so famous.

I definitely recommend you then a stop in Nice - and have a look at the hostel called Villa Saint Exupery.
There are two of them in Nice. I recommend the Garden one, the Beach one seems to be new and I don't know it.

We just wanted to spend an afternoon in Nice. Sites where we enjoyed stopping to sleep was in Venice and Amsterdam, the rest could be in night trains. Peter seems that you have knowledge about the inter-rail, with package 5 in 10, passing through Barcelona, Venice and Amsterdam, that more cities could go? Being able to catch a plane to Paris or Amsterdam to get there, then came by train to Porto.

Hi. Mmmh... yes I think I have knowledge in interrailing - at least that's the thing I do now for more than 10 years. :)
I recommend you to use Google maps to find an overview about possible cities on your way between Venice and Amsterdam.
Then use the schedule planer (use dates of the next weeks, not for too fare in future as schedules won't change a lot): https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
If you want to visit Nice on your way from Barcelona to Italy, you will normally need one overnight stop as there are currently no night trains on this route.

But check the route planer and the country topics: https://rail.cc/en/countries

I am a bit confused which way you want to travel now.
You have one good connection from and to Portugal. It is the one by night train: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/lisbon-hendaye-th-310/74

The route I was thinking was do Porto, caught a plane to Paris or Amsterdam and then began the inter-rail to Prague - Vienna - Venice - Nice - Barcelona - Porto. I did not want to start going by train to Paris or Amsterdam, because it would spend one day and train with nothing interesting to see. Peter do you think that with five days of travel by train is to do this route? I also have to see is where I sleep, train or hostels.

With a 5 in 10 this route is hard to do.
Simply use the schedule planer to find out the travel times.

Often night trains are cheaper than hostels - but you normally have no showers on board of the trains.
Hostels like I said: [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux]

Night trains at the country topics...
Some examples...
Amsterdam-Prague: https://rail.cc/en/amsterdam-prague-night-train/f3747
Prague-Vienna: https://rail.cc/en/prague-vienna-night-train/f1677
Vienna-Venice: https://rail.cc/en/vienna-venice-night-train/f3671

Thanks Peter, but if this route is difficult to recommend which cities get to be easier to go through it all. And those cities which are best for sleep, try something cheaper. We want to take advantage of the 10-day trip, staying a few days in some cities. And as I like to take good pictures I wanted to get as many of them as possible. I'll see on the site of the hostels, but I wonder what cities are best for sleep, and what steps are best with night train.

If you want to save money, definitely skip Amsterdam, Paris and Venice ...
Eastern-Europe is cool and cheap.
I would recommend you Berlin, Prague, Krakow, Budapest, maybe Vienna.

Want to save money, but cities Amsterdam and Venice are essential to stop. xD
How things are more expensive there could sleep somewhere else.

Since it is difficult to go to many cities all thought just go to Amsterdam, Venice and Barcelona. We stayed three days in Amsterdam, one in Venice and another in Barcelona.
was wondering if someone already made a trip with a ticket 5 in 10 could go to many places, or just getting some cities visited there a few days.

Me and my friends are thinking about the inter-rail and we think the intention of an inter-rail can be traveled by train, if possible. We did a plan of what will be the route:
Porto to Amsterdam 1 day - We stay 3 days in Amsterdam - Amsterdam to Venice 1 day - We stay 1 day in Venice - Venice to Barcelona 1 day - We stay 1 day in Barcelona - Barcelona Porto 1 day;
So we have to travel four days (5 max.'s Ticket) and 9-day trip (10 max.) And we reserve one day if something unexpected happens.

Hi.
Just to mention if you want to travel these distances by trains...

Porto-Amsterdam: not possible with 1 travel day. You will need at least 2.
Amsterdam-Venice: possible with 1 travel day.
Venice-Barcelona: if you want to travel this with only 1 travel day, there is only one connection available with 5 changes and a travel time of 22:30 hours.
Barcelona-Porto: you will have to use the night train to Vigo. There you have a long stay for over 10 hours.

Pay attention: if you want to travel routes the fastest way possible, you often have to use trains with supplements.

Thanks Peter. Some journeys take less than one day, but we have to get in a day and trains other the next day. As shown in the picture for example.
[img:1tff6f4q]http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/6299/interrail.png[/img:1tff6f4q]
I wonder if this counts as 1 day or 2 days in inter-rail ticket.

This are TWO travel days.

A travel day starts at 00:01h in the morning and ends at 23:59h at night.
If you use a direct (!) night train leaving after 19:00h, you can fill in the date of the next day as your travel day and save one of your travel days.
This night trains has to run until at least 04:00h in the morning.
Details: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train

Option for you: book online via the Trenitalia (Italian national rail company) a ticket for Venezia to Milano.
From there you can use the night train in direction of Spain.

But like I said - if you travel the fastest way, it is often expensive.
The night train you want to use is the most expensive one for InterRailers in Europe:
https://rail.cc/en/milan-barcelona-night-train/f1168

If you want, you do not have to change in Girona - the night train ends in Barcelona Estacion de Franca at 09:43h.

Peter :)
