Hi.
For the connections between the single cities use the schedule planer:
https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
And have a look at the country topics, all connections are listed there with details about supplements for example for night trains:
https://rail.cc/en/countries
Concerning hostels, check this website where you find all the details, prices, and so on: [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux]
Madrid-Paris: https://rail.cc/en/madrid-paris-night-train/f1134
Cheaper (use the schedule planer): travel until the French border by normal train and from there use a cheap French night train:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/france/fr
Interesting on your way back from Marseilles to Spain/Portugal could be a trip by the Petit Train Jaune:
https://rail.cc/en/petit-train-jaune-latour-de-carol/f1343
Or use it on your way from Madrid via Barcelona to Paris:

Here is a good step by step guide - worth to read:

Have a sunny trip and if you want to support our work, buy your official InterRail pass at our website.
