Now that I am sure about going interrailing(with some company along the way) I would like to know when to travel.
I am able to travel in mid july-august but I don't want to travel that period because of the heat and tourism.
I can also go in mid april and mid september and I want to choose the best period.
I want to travel around france, italy, switzerland, amsterdam and some other destinations like poland(Krakow),czech republic and slovenia(I haven't made up my mind aboute these yet!)...
I know the climate differs from one country to another but considering the fact that I will visit capital cities for sure(except switzerland) what's the best period about the two I mentioned above to travel??
It's a really general question, but I think your expierience will help me and also it would be a great help if you have some links that could help me about the weather in most countries..
Thanks in advance,
Alex
P.S.I have already searched in google but I want to get a better and more straight answer.

Hi!
Mid-april and mid-september are both good times to travel - not so many tourists as in summer and usually good weather. I'd consider september a little more stable than april considering rain and cold, but it's always a bit luck, too. ;)
I've been to Amsterdam, Paris, Nice in September and had really good weather! :) Also, in mid-may we had good weather as well in Paris and even in the north of Germany on the island of Amrum.
Paris is absolutely stunning in Spring, but when I was there in September it was beautiful as well...hard to say.
Dont really have good links dealing with the topic, I usually just google to find out a little about the areas I'm going to. Also, climate diagrams and the like can be quite good to get an impression what to expect - although of course you cant the weather exactly what those diagrams tell you... ;)

I was also looking to travel around Europe, but want to go around January, however is Europe still good that time of year!!!?? when the weather isnt as nice usually. mainly because it will make life harder i would have thought, because we aim to only take a rucksack of clothes, and in colder months u will need more clothes therefore bigger rucksacks etc etc.
cheers
