Hi to all,
Yes heading off in about 30hours time.
Fly to Munich from Ireland
interrail to Prague,Krackow,Budapest,Zegreb,Split,Dubrovnic, ferry to Bari, maybe other places in south Italy,Rome and fly home.
I am a late in life traveller (56 male) and I did my first interrail last year and enjoyed, prior to that trip I was excited and a wee bit fearful but when I got into the trip the fear went.
Now for this trip I have those 2 feelings again ,excitment and fear but this time the fear seems to be more. Any solo travellers identify ? or give me advice?
I think maybe why I am more fearful this time is that I am going more further afield to sort of mid easty countries with different currencies where as before I just rambled around the euro zone of Germany,Italy and Austria.
Hopefully as I get on the move those giant butterflies in my tummy will take flight.

Hi.
Just relax - Eastern Europe is different to Central Europe - but I always enjoyed my stays there.
It is absolutely no problem to get local currency at ATMs.
The staff at the international ticket windows speak to 95% at least a good broken English - just talk slowly to them and they definitely understand what you want.
In my opinion, it is more dangerous (in the sense of getting something stolen) taking a night train in Italy than in Eastern Europe.
Have a sunny trip, Peter :)
