Me and my friend have a pickle!! We are at Milan and we want to go to Venice and then Split and Hvar but we want to use the interrail ticket. how can we go without paying anything except reservations? What are our options? We can only use regional trains?( not to pay) what type of trains are included in the interrail ticket??

Hi!
Do you already have a ticket? If you have an InterRail Global Pass you can use all trains you need to get from Milano to Split for free - but pay attention as you will need to make reservations on certain trains!
To get from Milano to Venezia you have two options: Fast Eurostar City/Frecciabianca trains which require a reservation of 10€ or slower regional trains.
From Venezia to Zagreb you have several options:
:arr: https://rail.cc/en/venice-ljubljana-train/f3664
:arr: https://rail.cc/en/venice-villach-klagenfurt-bus-train/f3911 and continue to Zagreb from Villach
:arr: https://rail.cc/en/venice-budapest-night-train/f1487 and getting of at Zagreb at 0418
From Zagreb you then continue to Split by day or night train:

For detailed connections use the schedule planner: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

So I always have to go to zagreb to go to split?
We have a 22 days Global Pass we've already been to barcelona and then milan but we took a night train(sleeping car) and had to pay 75€! Our doubt is if the trains are not regional are we always going to have to pay? Are all the night trains that expensive?:)
we're going to sarajevo, budapest, vienna, prague, berlin, amsterdam, paris and then we're flying back to porto.
We'll take any suggestions:)
Thanks*

Hi.
You picked the most expensive night train for InterRailers ... ;)
Especially in Eastern Europe, night trains are very very cheap. Just check the country topics for details and prices: https://rail.cc/en/countries
Next time save some money and travel first Barcelona-Nice: https://rail.cc/en/train/marseille-to-nice
Then Nice-Milano: https://rail.cc/en/train/marseille-to-milan
If you travel next time via Paris, check this route: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/lisbon-hendaye-th-310/74

We want to travel from Vienna to Split on 1 June 2011 and understand there is a night train. Could you please tell us if this offers a sleeping cabin or if it is sitting only?
Can you also suggest the cheapest way to buy these tickets? We only have a couple of other train legs in our travel (Zurich to Lindau, Lindau to Passau and Vienna to Split).
Thanks for any advice you can provide.

Hi.
Do you want to travel from VIENNA or VENICE to SPLIT - just to confirm as this topic is about VENICE. :)
Vienna - Split: https://rail.cc/en/vienna-rijeka-split-night-train/f1908
The night train mentioned in this topic is running only in high season - I think not in the beginning of June.
Option:
Wien Meidling dep: 1602 | EC train - free of supplements
Zagreb Glavni Kolod. arr: 2237
Zagreb Glavni Kolod. dep: 2255 | night train fares: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/zagreb-split-b821/129
Split arr: 0715
You can buy the reservations for example in Vienna or in Zurich.
Venice - Split:
Venice to Slovenia: https://rail.cc/en/venice-ljubljana-train/f3664
Continue to Zagreb: https://rail.cc/en/ljubljana-zagreb-train/f4001
Then down to Split: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/zagreb-split-b821/129
