Hi.
Just use lockers in the hostels and at stations - Europe isn't dangerous.
And you will meet a lot of other travelers to have a little group and traveling together for some days.
Stay in hostels, use dorms, there you will meet a lot of others - as well traveling alone.

Peter :)

I've travelled Europe (and America) extensively alone, and it's been fine. Never had a problem. Worst I had was some weird homeless guy in Warsaw grabbing my hand in the street :S My first trip abroad involved walking through the Bronx at 3am...several times!

Obviously keep everything important on you, be vigilant, dress neutrally, and you're laughing!
