Hello fellow interrailers,
I have heard a lot about inter-railing in EU and am finally taken a week off to do southern Italy starting from Rome. I have never been to Italy and this is my first time. I realize a week is not enough to even see Rome, but I would like to make the most of my trip and travel to 2 - 3 places and experience inter-rail.
I wanted to check with others who have been to this region before and what you would recommend if I took inter-rail for 5 days. I plant o be there between Oct 6 - Oct 11. Hope to spend 2 days in Rome and then take the train by night and checkout the cities by the day.
I really hope some of you can advice me of possible cities I should see that are connected. I am looking for a loop starting at Rome and ending in Rome. I want to spend Oct 7 - 8 in Rome and have to be back in Rome Oct 11 to take a flight back.
It would be great to also find if some of you are planning a trip around that region. I hear traveling inter-rail is the best way to meet fellow-travelers. It is always good to make new friends.

Hi.
Just some general information.
Avoid the Eurostar Italia trains: supplement EUR 10.
Use the free IC trains:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/italy/it
Use couchettes/compartments in night trains, not seats for security reasons (theft).
You can book supplements (for night trains) in advance online and pick them up at train stations:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/italy/it
Check the country topic of Italy with all information to night trains and online booking, etc...
