Losing my interrail virginity on the 1st of September with two of the boys from uni (sounds so wrong)
We have flights arriving in Barcelona on the 1st, hostel is booked for a few days and we are hoping to leave Barcelona on the 3rd. From there on we have a 10 day interrail pass which will hopefuly get us to Amsterdam for our flights home on the 15th (few days sampling Amsterdams delights).
My question is; can anybody suggest a route from Barcelona to Amsterdam via Prague (hoping to be in Prague for the 10th to meet a friend). First time for all three of us so destinations are not entirely important; more about having fun than anything!
Thanks for any help given; any more information needed let me know!
Cheers
Daniel

Hi Daniel.
First step think about crossing the Pyrenees by Petit Train Jaune.
Barcelona - Pyrenees - Perpignan
https://rail.cc/blog/little-yellow-train-video/
Perpignan - Nice
https://rail.cc/en/train/marseille-to-nice
Nice - Milano - Italy
https://rail.cc/en/train/marseille-to-milan
Venice - Ljubljana - Zagreb - Budapest
https://rail.cc/en/venice-ljubljana-train/f3664
Or the direct way by night train to Budapest
https://rail.cc/en/venice-budapest-night-train/f1487
Budapest - Vienna - Krakow - Prague
Budapest - Prague
Prague - Berlin - Amsterdam
Just some examples. Check the country topics as you will find there all connections (as well night trains) for the journey mentioned:

What is your country of residence? As you can't travel for free in it.
If you have your route fixed, I can give you more details if you need some and they are not listed at the country topics.

Cheers Peter!
Your suggestions have definately started the ball rolling!
Here's what i've been thinking of route wise from your suggestions
1st - Barcelona
2nd - Barcelona
3rd - Barcleona
4th - Morning train to Perpginan where we would spend the night
5th - Morning train to Nice where we would spend the night
6th - Day traveling including overnight train to Zagreb
7th - Zagreb
8th - Overnight train to Prague
9th - Prague
10th - Prague
11th - Morning train to arrive in Dam and 1030
12th - Amsterdam
13th - Amsterdam
14th - Amsterdam
15th - Flight home (UK)
Is there anything sticking out that would make this route a bad one?
Seems like a lot of traveling in comparison to destinations,,, anything you can suggest?
Cheers

Hi.
Yes, it is always a long travel starting in Barcelona, as it is a bit fare away of main Europe - at least by using a train.
Other option could be:
Barcelona - Petit Train Jaune - Paris: https://rail.cc/blog/little-yellow-train-video/
Paris - Munich: https://rail.cc/en/paris-munich-night-train/f3774
Also possible by day train.
Munich - Vienna: free and direct day trains like for example the Railjets or ICEs
Or the direct way Munich-Prague.
Vienna - Prague: use the free OEC trains, not the SC trains which have a supplement if EUR 7.
Or Vienna-Budapest-Prague (or even add Krakow).
Prague - Berlin - Amsterdam

Cheers again Peter!
Barca does seem a bit out the way but our flights are booked haha!
Do you have any suggestions for getting from Nice to Amsterdam as quick as possible? Looking to leave Nice on the 7th and be in Amsterdam by the 12th/13th?

Hi Daniel.
Check this connection, except of the night train (EUR 1,50 seat / EUR 17,50 bed) it is free of supplements:
