Okay guys so I have a few questions about these two journeys, which I'd be making at the end of August.

Copenhagen - Stockholm

I was thinking that since the day train is quite long (5h30) and I'd rather have as much usable time as possible, I would take the night train to get to Stockholm. Because it involves a regional train Copenhagen-Malmo, I imagine that I'd have to use 2 travel days. I'd rather save a travel day if I can, so does anyone know how much is the regular fare for the Oresund train?
Also, do you think I'll have problems booking the supplement at the station a couple of days before?

Stockholm - Helsinki

I was thinking of taking the overnight ferry. Which is the best ferry company, Silja or Viking? Does anyone know if the supplement is bookable in advance, or is it easy enough to book it on the day? And is it safe to just sleep on deck?
Also, is there any supplement to pay for Turku-Helsinki?

Kind regards,

Roberto

Hi Roberto.

That's right. You would loose one travel day only for the Oeresund train.
Oeresund Copenhagen-Malmö is about EUR 10, one-way.

By the way: Malmö is also very nice to stay.

You can book the night train either online (follow the link at the bottom of this topic) or as well some days in advance at the main station in Copenhagen:

Stockholm - Helsinki:

Viking has the bigger ships if I don't mix it now - but both are okay. You can also book air seats, a bit more comfortable. But it is also okay to sleep on deck - this means: just search for a quiet place on the ship - can also be in a restaurant or somewhere else in a corner.
Pay attention as Stockholm-Helsinki is always more expensive than traveling to Turku. From Turku you have free and direct trains to Helsinki (and you save the way from Helsinki port to city center).

I always bought my tickets at the harbour office directly and never had problems to get a deck place.

I hope this will help you. Peter :)
