Hello everyone!

Just bought my first Interrail tickets, I will be going to Bulgaria. I will be traveling there over two countries: Croatia and Serbia, so I bought interrail tickets for these 2 countries.

There is a train that goes from Zagreb (Croatia) -> Sofia (Bulgaria), but since I don´t have interrail ticket for Bulgaria I probably am not allowed to travel all the way to Sofia, right?

The question is, do I need to get out at the last station in Serbia, or in the first station in Bulgaria?

Link to train route:
* please no links - place the information directly here in the forum *

Zagreb Glavni Kolod. Dep: 1321
Strizivojna-Vrpolje Arr: 1613

Strizivojna-Vrpolje Dep: 1657
Beograd Arr: 2018

Beograd Dep: 2115
Sofia Arr: 0803

As I see I also have to reserve the last train? Can I do that at the station 1 hour before departure?

Thank you very much!

Take care o/

Hi.

I don't know where you want to travel, but usually the an InterRail GLOBAL Pass including all 30 European InterRail countries is cheaper than several single ONE Country Passes.

If you own an ONE Country InterRail Pass SERBIA and an ONE Country InterRail Pass CROATIA you will have to leave the train at the last station on Serbian ground before you reach Bulgaria.
You should be able to buy the ticket for the rest of your route to Sofia already in Belgrade - but it might be the case that you will have to ask directly at the train, as it is a night train and the ticket windows in the stations won't sell tickets any more for this night train such a short time before departure.

I recommend you this connection - much easier and you can get the supplement for the night train in Zagreb.

Beograd Dep: 0750 | very nice nature as closer you get to Sofia

Cheapest global pass is 159€, I paid 79€ now + ticket from serbian border to Sofia...I think it´s still cheaper? :| :)

This route that you stated,...is a reservation a must? since I see that seats in 2nd class with IR are free (I will just be using seats). Since it´s my first time using IR I am confused about this reservations and supplements.

Thanks!

Okay. If you end your trip in Sofia and won't get back, then it is cheaper with the tickets you have. I thought you will make a round trip ... :)

For night trains you usually have to pay a supplement for the category of bed you want - like for a hostel. This train has a wagon with 2nd class seats - which are free to use - just jump into the train and sit down.
But I recommend you at least the 6-bed-couchettes, as the door can be locked.
