Hi, i'm looking to leave Berlin early on 12 August and get to Lisbon by 16 August, I would ideally like to stop at Lyon for 1 1/2 - 2 days in the middle.

What would be the best route to take, considering i only want to spend time in Lyon on the way (will be stopping at Madrid and Barcelona on the way back)?

Will this be possible and would i need to use night trains (do these cost a lot more?) or should i allow myself more time?

Thanks in advance...

Hi.

Berlin-Paris-Lisbon is easy to do.
Berlin-Paris: https://rail.cc/en/train/berlin-to-paris
Paris-Lisbon: https://rail.cc/en/train/paris-to-lisbon

Via Lyon it is a bit more complicate:
Berlin-Lyon: https://rail.cc/en/berlin-lyon/f5100
Lyon-Lisbon: I recommend you to travel by TGV train up to Paris (2 hours) and from there using the connection mentioned above.

Peter :)

Thanks for your fast reply Peter.

I will most definitely travel back up to Paris then catch the night train down. This will save me a lot of time and i will get to appreciate Berlin and Lyon for a lot longer than i expected.

Again, thanks for your help.
