Hi,

Going on my first interrail trip next month and planning out a rough route as follows;

Bruges, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Munich, Stuttgart, Venice, Naples, Rome, Florence, Milan and Paris

I've been trying to work out connections between each place without paying supplements or making reservations. This seems ok for most of the trip but everywhere i've looked seems to suggest that my journeys in Italy will have to be reserved in advance. Could anyone tell me if this is true?

I'm also not sure if there is any direct way of getting from Milan to Paris. I'm assuming i'll have to pay a supplement even with a pass?

Thanks,

Hi.

Most of your route is described in the country topics:
https://rail.cc/en/countries

All your way until Stuttgart is possible by free trains without supplements:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation

Entering Italy will cause supplements - except if you select slower Regional trains - often you can find as well the free IC trains.
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/italy/it

A good connection if you want to save a hostel and use a night train is from Munich to Venice by direct night train (you can book online in advance):
https://rail.cc/en/night-train/munich-zagreb-en-499/151

As an example...

Venice-Naples:
Venezia Santa Lucia Dep: 1307 | free IC train
Napoli Centrale Arr: 2142

Naples-Rome:
Napoli Centrale Dep: 0818 | free IC train
Roma Termini Arr: 1021

Just use the schedule planer with the option without HST:
https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

For you travel from Italy to Paris, check this night train:
https://rail.cc/en/venice-milan-paris-night-train/f3675

Concerning reservations:
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation

And if you want to support our work and all the information we give - not just an anonymous company - buy your InterRail pass at [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]

Thank you, Peter :)
