Hello,
next week I am going to Ringkoebing, parting from Hamburg. I have already booked the ticket for the outward journey, but noticed I only have few minutes to change trains :o . the return journey will be about the same (ticket not booked yet). please give me your opinion and advice for the times below
Hamburg Hbf dep 09:30 ICE 386 ICE 386
Kolding st arr 12:48
Kolding st dep 14:43 IC 845 IC 845
Esbjerg st arr 15:24
6 minutes!
Esbjerg st dep 15:30 R 5159 R 5159
Skjern st arr 16:27
4 minutes!
Skjern st dep 16:31 R 5253 R 5253
Ringkoebing st arr 16:50
Do you think it is possible to change in such a little time? do the trains 'cooperate' with each other and wait for the passengers? are the stations big??
Thanks a lot for your help! :)

Hi.
You shouldn't have problems - these are smaller stations and the trains will wait for each other.
Only problem could be on your way back if you change then the second time from a REGIONAL to an IC train - if the Regional train is heavily in delay, the IC won't wait - but I think on this route you have frequent IC connections.
Usually trains in Denmark are in time! :)

wow, thanks for the fast reply! :)
however, i tried to look for the platforms on the website of the danish railway-system, but my connection for 1st august is not listed as described above. it says, that departing from kolding via esbjerg to ringkoebing, i only have to change trains in esbjerg and can go directly to ringkoebing (general direction: skjern). what shall i believe.. :?: :?:
greets L.
PS: do you also have an idea what to do while waiting 2 hours in kolding?

Hi.
Believe the system. :)
Much better if you do not have changes. It often depends on the day you travel (weekend or business day).

Hi!
Just a short word about the connection times. Usually the online schedule planners only list connections that are possible to make without hassle. :)

my journey was already 1 year ago, but i'd like to share my experience:
it is mostly NOT that easy to change trains in 4-6 minutes! :'(
1. i went to denmark in high season, so the train was totally full and it took long time to get off
(that's not a joke, everyone was sitting on the floor and luggage was stored everywhere > make sure to get to luggage and train exit on time!)
2. regional train does not wait...
(my train was late for about 25 minutes and the regional train didn't wait, which is actually understandable.
we were collected by car after all, but for all the others not being able to get on the train on time AND missing the next change train (e.g. in Skjern, where there are only trains every 2 hours on a sunday) i felt sorry)
however, on the way back we started our journey from Skjern, as we feared to not reach the ICE to Germany on time. moreover, people at the station in Skjern were very helpful to get a reservation after having already bought the ticket in germany.
