Hello,
im going on my first interrail trip this summer and i've got some questions.
This is the first one:
I'm planning to take the Night train from Salzburg to Prague (Departure 0439) (after getting out of Germany)
The timetable says:
Subject to compulsory reservation, Partially 2nd class only, Part of journey with sleeping-car, Part of journey with couchette coach, parent-and-children compartment
Can I make the reservation when I leave Augsburg in the evening?
Will I have to pay for the reservation? (Maybe because I have to take a bed on the train..?)
In this case how much will it be?
Thank you.

Hi!
You will have to pay for a reservation; you can choose between regular seats, couchette and sleeper. A seat will be the usual reservation cost of 3,50€ and you can make it in Augsburg. I think you will still get a seat if you make it on the day of departure but if you have the chance think of getting it earlier to be sure. :)
But maybe think about another connection as well:
München 2340 - 0558 Wien Meidling :arr: compulsory reservation https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/munich-budapest-en-463/55
Wien Meidling 0733 - 0853 Breclav
Breclav 0902 - 1221 Praha hl n
You'd arrive in Prag just one hour later but could sleep a little during the night and wouldnt have to stay at Salzburg until 4am.

Thank you for your quick response.
Is it always EUR 3.50 to make a reservation?
I chose this connection because it's only EUR 33.00 from Augsburg to Salzburg (my IR ticket is not valid on this connection for germany being my country of residence) and I dont mind hanging around at Salzburg Central Station for 3 hours 8)

Hi,
you can find a list of different train supplements here: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation For night trains, check also the different country boards of the forum . :)
