I think the questions that i have are related to this and i have a somewhat similar itinerary too.

1. I was going to reserve my seat from Rome to Valencia and thats what i got on DB BAHN website:

Roma Termini Fr, 20.08.10 dep 15:40 ES 9554 EuroStar Italia
Subject to compulsory reservation, Global price, Snacks and beverages available, space for wheelchairs
Milano Porta Garibaldi Fr, 20.08.10 arr 18:55
Milano Porta Garibaldi Fr, 20.08.10 dep 18:55 transfer 35 min. Continue by public transport
Milano Centrale Fr, 20.08.10 arr 19:30
Milano Centrale Fr, 20.08.10 dep 19:40 EN 11274 EuroNight
Sleeper train, Subject to compulsory reservation, Global price, Bordrestaurant
Barcelona Estacion de Franca Sa, 21.08.10 arr 09:43
Barcelona Estacion de Franca Sa, 21.08.10 dep 09:43 transfer 45 min. Continue by public transport
Barcelona Sants Sa, 21.08.10 arr 10:28
Barcelona Sants Sa, 21.08.10 dep 11:00 ALS 1111 Alaris
Subject to compulsory reservation, Global price, Snacks and beverages available, Video coach available
Valencia Estacio d.N Sa, 21.08.10 arr 14:30
Show intermediate stops

Now i have two questions!

1. The 'Continue by public transport' part in above stretch is by foot or what ? I dont really understand what does that mean. Sorry for being too dumb if its too obvious for some of you.
2. There are two trains in that stretch that must be reserved. Does one pay supplement for both of them at the beginning of journey ? Lets suppose 5 Euro for each means 10 Euros for the whole stretch ?

Thanks,
Minhaaj

Hi Minhaaj.

This is maybe the fastest connection you selected, but as well an expensive one.

Always check the schedule planerhttps://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

And compare it with the supplements: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation
How to buy reservations online if possible: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation

Roma - Milano: by EUROSTAR Italia = supplement of EUR 10
Milano - Barcelona: by direct night trains (expensive!): https://rail.cc/en/milan-barcelona-night-train/f1168
Barcelona - Valencia: by Alaris - supplement EUR 6,50

If you want to save money, you will have to do it in two steps with a break for example in Nice.
Then the next day via the Pyrenees by the Petit Train Jaune to Barcelona and on to Valencia.
https://rail.cc/en/paris-pyrenees-barcelona-le-petit-tain-jaune/f4023
https://rail.cc/en/petit-train-jaune-latour-de-carol/f1343

Other solution is by ferry Roma-Barcelona and then to Valencia:
Civitavecchia (very close to Rome) – Barcelona
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/italy/it

And if you want to do it all by train, the fast way, check this solution (so you avoid at least the public transport parts AND the supplement for the Eurostar Italia):

Roma Termini dep: 1236 | free IC train
Milano Centrale arr: 1915

Milano Centrale dep: 1940 | by night train: https://rail.cc/en/milan-barcelona-night-train/f1168
Girona arr: 0818

Girona dep: 0847 | free IR train
Barcelona Sants arr: 1009

Barcelona Sants dep: 1100 | by Alaris train - supplement EUR 6,5011:00
Valencia Estacio d.N arr: 1430

And if you like our forum and all the work, support our project and buy your official InterRail pass at [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you, Peter :)
