Hi,

I've settled on Lyon, Genéva, Naples, Rome, Verona, Salzburg, Vienna, Prague, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris.

I was wondering if you guys knew which places are the most expensive in terms of food and drink (planning on eating out of shops), and tourist attractions, and any other things aside from hostels which I haven't thought of! I'm trying to work out how long to spend in each place, and a lot of that will be down to day-to-day costs.

Thanks in advance.

Hi.

Expensive places are Paris, Genéva, Rome and Amsterdam.
The prices for food in supermarkets are nearly the same everywhere.
For hostels check the [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux] website.

You can live quite cheap in all these places. Of course, prices are higher in the more touristy areas, so avoid to buy your stuff there - especially food and drinks are more expensive there. If you walk a little off the beaten track you can often find cheap and good places to eat so you dont always have to rely on supermarkets. ;)
And Geneve is of quite expensive...just been there on Sunday because my night train was late and a menu at McDo is ~10€...
