Hi,
First time interrailing and i have several questions about accomodation.
How to book Hostels without paying a reservation?
it's possible to just show up in a hostel and find some cheep place to sleep? Or it is dificult?
How can i reserve a hostel if i don't be able to get there on time?
How do you normaly do?
Did the prices change when you pay in reservations or if you pay on the day that you arrive?

Hi João.
I recommend to book in advance - at least one night in advance, for example via [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux]
As you will find cheap ones and arriving in a new city, you just walk to the hostel and save a lot of time. Much more relaxing.
In summer the good and cheap hostels easily get full.
And about the reservation fee: if you want to have a good service (ratings, description, ...), you have to pay for.
You can try to phone hostels directly - but then it might happen that you make a reservation and if you arrive no more beds left....
Just try it - to find the best way for you.
Have a sunny trip, Peter :)

My question is pretty much the same.
Would it be possible for me to basically not care about the reservations (to be all carpe diem!) and just show up at a hostel and book a stay for the night? (dorm is no problem) I mean, I'm going by the end of this week in February. It's hardly the busiest season for travelers?
Especially I would like to know your opinion on doing just that in Berlin, Prague and Vienna first and foremost, thanks.

I have a few questions about booking via [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux]
First of all, is it safe? I think so, but it's still better to ask :)
Secondly, as I understand, that 10% downpayment is a part of the whole sum? For example, if I pay 10EUR while booking (100EUR is the price for a night), then I'll have to pay only 90EUR in the hostel itself, is it right?
Sorry for dumb questions, this is my first interrail trip (and to be honest - maybe the first longer trip in my whole life), and thanks in advance :)
