Hello,
I am to start my trip very soon with some stops in Eastern Europe -Ljubljana, Prague, etc-. I'd like to know if it safe enough to be out very late/clubbing etc...
Also, my train will arrive to Ljubljana at 2 am, do you think it's ok to stay at the train station until morning or sthg like that or would you advice to book a hostel anyway?
many thanks
Peter

Hi.
Eastern European cities are like Western European ones. Simply avoid the dark corners - join some other travelers of your hostel and go clubing together.
About Ljubljana - think about a day train connection, the night train isn't worth to use:

Eastern Europe is fine. Just do what you do at home!
I ended up on a bus from Prague to Warsaw which arrived into Warsaw at midnight...and public transport there closes at 11pm...fortunately I had the directions written down so it was fine.
I went out in Bratislava, Prague, Tallinn, Warsaw, Zagreb, Ljubljana and Budapest and all were just fine. Admittedly, not proper going out getting drunk going out, but still!

re that NZ from venezia via Ljublj-as it goes on to zagreb (about 4.00)-tne BPest-you could stay on till f.e. Zagreb and come back with another train-thats 1 advantage of IR!
The capital of PL, Warszwaw, also has an extensive nightbusnetwork.
But in general in east-Europe daily life both starts and finishes earlier. 6.00 is not that early there, shops and schools start by 7.00, but this also means evenings end earlier.

I'm from Ljubljana and there is nothing to worry about. 8) But of course in every city you have to be carefull. Avoid lonley, dark streets and weird people. Sixth sence is your friend :) . If you go out on main streets, local pubs, clubs you are complently save :D
...oh and i wouldn't say Slovenia is in eastern europe, we see ourself as cental europe
If you guys have any questions about Slovenia, don't be afraid to ask me 8)
