Hey! I'm starting my first interrail journey at the end of July.
I want to go to Scandinavia for a few weeks, but, I was wondering how
to get out of my country with the interrail ticket.

Any advice how to get from Cologne to Copenhagen?
Is it a good idea to go to Hamburg first?
I want to sleep in Hostels and maybe night trains, I won't take my tent.

Thanks

Hi.

I suppose your country of residence is Germany?

If so, have a look on the Schönes Wochenende ticket of Deutsch Bahn, or the much better one: check their website for an Europa Spezial Ticket. So you can leave to Denmark for about 29 EUR.
Also an option is to use the direct night train for which you can also get special fares:

Book them as early as you can.

Hello,
if you want to go to Copenhagen, you can also take the direct City Night Line (21:26 - 10:06) from Cologne. However, if you haven't bought a ticket yet, this will take you at least about 93€ in a normal seat (i think it's not very comfortable!).
I don't know if you will also get a CNL ticket cheaper when you have an Interrail Pass. :?:
Another possibility is to go to Hamburg first (as far as i know, there is a Sommer-Spezial with discount prices for certain routes but I am not sure about the quantity of the available tickets:

and then travel on towards Denmark. If you only have to go until the border (Puttgarden?) this costs you 19€ from Hamburg,
good luck! 8)
