Since I'll be travelling alone, I'm looking for ways to ensure that my trip never becomes boring at any point. I'm making a list of things to try and do while I'm travelling. It's the sort of thing that we did when we moved to university.

Basically, we got given a list of things to do by the end of the year, such as 'turn up to a lecture for a subject that you don't study, and contribute as much as possible, without being found out' etc. It's silly, but very entertaining.

I found the following list on the internet (which I've edited a bit to make more relevant to my trip), and wondered if anyone has any more things I should add. The more the better. I'll be in Germany, Slovenia, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and Austria.

10. Pretend you don’t speak English.
9. Tell tourists you live nearby, make outrageous claims about sights (i.e. “this statue was donated by Freddie Mercury”).
8. Meet someone new and completely reinvent your life story.
7. Walk into a barber shop, tell them to go nuts.
6. Follow a group of German tourists for 30 minutes; see where you end up.
5. Try a new kind of meat.
4. Take a rock/cobblestone/brick as a souvenir.
3. Watch local T.V.- dub over with your own plot and dialogue.
2. Make friends with a native. Ask them to show you the version of their home they want you to see.
1. Get a photo with a waitress dressed in traditional bavarian clothing.

Unfortunately I don't have any tips. But I would like to thank you for the list, it seems very interesting and plenty of fun! I'll keep an eye on this thread and'll gladly bring the list on my trip too!
I'll try to think about more funny things to do and 'll add them to this thread if I come up with any!

If I ever meet a well-groomed sebra-meat-eating statue expert who only speaks (a suspicious dialect of) German ... I'll buy you a beer!

- visit a local supermarket and find something completly new
- take a walk without knowing where you´re going to end up

I never did Interrail by now (unfortunately) but I take the train everyday to go university and here are some things I like to do.

Things you can do while sitting in the train
-sleep
- hear music
-watch a movie
-read a book, magazine
-write a diary, a book, poems
-look out the window (and count for example all people you see within 15 min)
-talk to someone sitting next to you
-draw a picture
-eat & drink
-learn vocabulary and improve your language skills
-think about your life, and what you could change about it
-organize your photographs (if you have a notebook with you)
-write SMS to people at home
- girls: do your nails :D
-observe other people
-play cards or other games
-plan activities you want to do in your next destination
-orginizing your stuff in your bagpack
-clean or fix your (photo)equipment
-start a scrapbook and put all the things into it you have collected, flyers, recipe, photos, cards, tickets
