Hey...Having some problems with working this one out

The Milan to Venice seems easy enough but Venice to Zagreb seems a tad problematic..
So we've got the day train
Venezia Mestre 12:16
Zagreb Glavni Kolod. 20:55
But with this is the hour ten minutes between Gorizia Centrale and Nova Gorica..It says theres a 40 minute transfer time, would this be pushing our luck or is it definitely do-able, unless you know luck is totally not on your side. Was also wondering if anyone could give me a hand with the supplements on these trains too..stoptrein and trein are free regional trains right ? and the Eurocity train would be 5 euros ?

Also theres the option night train
Venezia Mestre 21:32
Zagreb Glavni Kolod. 04.18
Which is the Euronight Train which I can't seem to work out supplements on, if someone could help that'd be grand.

So I was mainly wondering do you think go for the day or the night, I'd personally prefer not to get to Zagreb at 4am for obvious reasons.

Sorry for the bombardment of questions, as you can guess, I'm new to this
Thanks again
:D

Hi.

First option by day train is here:
https://rail.cc/en/venice-ljubljana-train/f3664

Milan-Venice is possible by free IC trains (reservation recommended, but not needed: EUR 3. Journey time is 2:30h).

The rest from Venice to Zagreb is free of supplements.

Night train Venice-Zagreb:

You can book all Italian trains online:
