I am just wondering if this train is covered by the Interrail ticket and whether there are any supplements to pay for this journey.

You have several connections by day trains. Use the Regional (R) trains, for example this one (much more available using the schedule planer: [u]https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route[/u] ):
Barcelona Sants Dep: 0933
Benicasim Arr: 1309
These Regional trains are free to use with InterRail.
