Hey,

Me and my two friends are really looking forward to going away on a InterRail trip next year. We would be looking at a month long trip (maybe a few days extra out of the pass to hop to Ukraine).

From looking at the map, we are thinking of starting in somewhere like Gdansk and then finishing in Dubrovnik

Whilst I have a fairly good knowledge of the Czech Republic and Slovakia (will probably make a stop in Poprad/Banska Bystrica, or hop over to border to Zakopane, what sort of route do you guys think would be best for a month of travelling.

We don't really want to go west of Germany, but going to Germany is a must for us. We also want to make a stop in places like Bled and basically anywhere nice that isn't too touristy!

Thanks in advance

In Germany interessting could be for example Munich, Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne ... but also smaler cities like Nürnberg, Freiburg or Münster...
Then definitely Ljubljana, Zagreb, Budapest, ...

Thanks for your reply.

I'm not sure, but a lot of the places you mentioned are like.. big cities. Whilst it's a must to go there, we are generally looking for these quiet places that are off the beaten track. Like hopping around Bavarian villages, or going to the smaller places that won't be crammed full of tourists if you know what I mean

I know what you mean. :)
Then simply avoid the places I mentioned - but you will always find quiet places as well in these cities - without tourist. Just stay in a small and nice hostel and ask for the places where the staff spent the nights, where locals go out.
Concerning the small villages: not all are connected by rail.
Just jump out of a train and decide spontaneously - I often do it this way. :)
