Hi,

My Thomas Cook European Rail Timetable came in the post today and I've been trying to get my head round it!

I've encountered a few problems when it comes to the trains in Italy, I'm looking at getting from Rome to Naples and in the book there are various routes on various different train services but when I search online for the timetables the times I get don't seem to match up with the book.

Is this because the trains in Italy are a bit unreliable or because I'm looking at the wrong page in the book or something!

Thanks,

Hi!

- What edition of the TC Timetable have you bought?
- Have a look at the opening page of the Italy section (580), under timings you'll find until when the timetables are valid
- What exact route (and for what time and date) have you been looking at?

The online planner often shows fastest connections only unless you customize the search: [ux]http://plan.rail.cc[/ux]

Thanks for the quick reply.

I've got the latest version, Summer 2010.

Checked out Italy section 580 and realised that its only valid until June 12th and I've been putting in dates around 14th July, guess this is why. Would you suggest just checking online when I'm travelling to get the most up to date information?

Thanks,

OK...yeah, that's sometimes the problem that the rail companies doesnt supply their new timetables in time for publishing of the current edition. :|

However, most timings should remain more or less the same anyway. I dont know why you get so different results... I dont know which database you are using but I'd recommend to use the one described here: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
With it you can find out most schedules throughout Europe. :)
