Hi,

I'm new to InterRail but i want to try out this summer between 7 and 21 august, but i'm having some problems figuring out my ideal route. I'd like to visit: Vienna, Berlin, Oslo, Stockholm, Warsaw and return to Budapest.

My current plan looks something like this, start in Vienna(i'm from Hungary) in the morning (using a bus) and later that same day leave to Berlin, i've read about a night train but i'm not sure if there is one...so please help me

Stay in Berlin a few days and then leave to Oslo( night train again i guess)stay there a few days and then leave to Stockholm and stay there some more days. Finally leaving to Warsaw(Stockholm Warsaw via airplane) stay there a few days and then get back to Budapest.

Basically my question is the following:
Vienna Berlin night train? How much does it cost with IR
Berlin Oslo night train? How much does it cost with IR
Warsaw Budapest? Any train? and how much do i have to pay if i'm from hungary.

Thanks for reading and please advise.

Hi!

Vienna - Berlin: https://rail.cc/en/train/vienna-to-berlin
Berlin - Oslo: https://rail.cc/en/train/berlin-to-oslo
Oslo - Stockholm: https://rail.cc/en/train/oslo-to-stockholm

Stockholm - Warszawa: If you want to travel this part by train you should maybe think of getting regular tickets instead of an InterRail pass...but I cant give you details as we concentrate on InterRail travelling only.

Warszawa - Budapest: You could use InterRail up to the border, from there you get a 50% discounted ticket from MAV Start.

One question: on these night trains do i have to get off and change trains ? or do i get on in Vienna for example and just get off in Berlin?
As for seating/couchette...can one sleep in seat would you recomand getting a couchette?

Where could i get the tickets? In Budapest? How soon should i buy them? If i only leave on the 7th august?

thanks for the quick reply :D you've made my day.

For Stockholm-Warsaw i'll be taking a Wizzair Airplane it's cheap and it'll get me there in one hour which is great.

No you wont have to change trains on those night trains. :)

Sleeping in regular seats is OK if you dont do it too often during a trip. Since on the Berlin - Malmö (where you change to Oslo) night train only couchettes and sleepers are available I'd recommend to get a seat for Wien - Berlin and a couchette for Berlin - Malmö. Of course you can also book a couchette or sleeper for the train to Berlin...it definitely is more comfortable than a regular seat - especially when your seating compartment is rather full with 4-6 persons.

You can get the tickets online at railcc online shop [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux] or probably also at a Budapest station - where you can also make your reservations. If you already know your exact travel days, you can purchase ticket and reservations now already. :)

So i get off at Malmo and take another train to Oslo right? So that counts as 2 day travel or just one?

For the vienna-berlin night train which day would be the first travel day? the day i leave from vienna or the day i arrive in berlin?

You'd have to change trains in Lund/Malmö and Göteborg. With a flexi pass it would count as one travel day only due to the 1900-rule: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train

Wien - Berlin as well: You only need one travel day - the one you arrive in Berlin. :)
