Hy,
I'm not a European resident and I'm going to buy the Eurail global pass from my homecountry Lebanon.
I'm travelling with a friend who is a holder of a Cypriot passport but is not living in Europe. Can we buy his Interrail global pass from Athens which is our first destination?
Thanks a lot

Hi!
It depends a little I'd say. If your friend has been staying more than six consecutive outside Europe and that is visible in the passport (visa, stamps etc), he will have to buy an Eurail pass as well. As then his official country of residency isnt Cyprus but the country he's currently staying at.

Thank you for your reply Flo,
Now if I understand this well; if he can prove from the stamps on his passport that he has been outside of Cyprus (European Country) for more than 6 months then he can travel using Eurail (eventhough he has a European Passport) !?

Humm...I'm not quite sure now if you can get EuRail with an European passport even if you've been staying more than six consecutive months outside Europe.
Maybe Peter knows more...?

Is there an Interrail information desk that I can call by telephone?

Hi.
Sorry to be late. You have a PM to solve the problem.
Peter :)

Thank you Peter,
I have already contacted xxxxxxxx
and they said that since he has been out for more than 6 months (and he can prove it) he can use the eurail (which is a more expensive)
So I got us a eurail saver pass, turns out less expensive overall...
Flying to Athens in 5 hrs, and I hope the strikes over there will not affect the trip!
cheers.
