Hi all!
I'm not able to travel much this July, and I want to avoid going in August because trains and hostels are booked full so much of the time. I'm considering going some time in the autumn instead, which is when I need to go anyway because Norway is so depressing then :)
But since I'll be going alone, I want to make sure I meet other travelers. Will I, if I go say in September/October?
Also, is it easier or harder to book hostels in that period? I know some hostels are only open in summer.
I'm thinking Eastern Europe this time, probably reasonably warm countries like Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey, but inevitably also touching down in Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary etc.
Appreciate any thoughts on this, thanks.

Hi!
Cant speak for Eastern Europe but I had an awesome time during my trip last February: Paris - Lisboa - Sevilla - Granada
Hostels werent full, but still quite some people from everywhere around (met people from the Americas as well as Asia and Europe), you might get cheaper rates (paid 12€ per night in Lisbon in a top-notch hostel!) and you'll have a different experience overall travelling off-season as you will see more of the real-life going on in the different cities. :)

Thanks, that's encouraging. Good point about seeing the real life, and lower rates are always good :)

Yeah, you usually notice that there are less tourists around and that the inhabitants have returned from their summer vacation. I always remember being in Paris the first time not in summer but in September and suddenly life was totally different. :)
