Hi
i was just wondering what the best route is from budapest to thessalonika then onto athens/igomenitsa to get a connecting ferry onto venice?
also is the ferry to venice free? and does anyone know where to get a ferry timetable?

Hi!
The direct way to Thessaloniki is via Beograd, travel time ~24h. Thessaloniki - Athens ~4h30 - ~5h30, depending on train category, Athens - Patras ~4h, to Igoumenitsa no train service, only buses.
Minoan Lines operate a Patras - Venice ferry service which is included in InterRail, you only have to pay fuel/port/high season charges - ~15-30€. For schedules check at the website of the company. :)
