Hey!
We (two girls from Germany, both 21) are planning our first Interrail trip this summer. Now I want to ask you for your opinion on our trip. We are thinking about starting in Amsterdam, maybe with this Eurospecial.Since we can´t use the ticket in Germany this is the cheapest solution.
Then
Amsterdam-Paris (with a free regional train)
Paris- la Rochelle (I guess we have to take the TGV?)
La Rochelle-Bordeaux (regional train)
Bordeaux-San Sebastian (TGV?)
San Sebastian- Madrid (with the night train)
Madrid-Barcelona (night train as well)
Barcelona-Marseille (with a free regional train)
Marseille- Mulhouse (free regional train)
Mulhouse -Freiburg (maybe we will find somebody who gives as a lift)

We want to buy this 10 days within 22 ticket .Is it possible to see all these places during this time?We are planning to spend mostly 2 days in a town, maybe sometimes only one day, if we don´t like it there, but never more than 3.

Is it worth visiting both Bordeaux and la Rochelle?
Should we go to Marseille or should we rather go to Nice?

Is an Eastern Europe trip better?Maybe Berlin-Prag-Krakow-Budapest-the coast of Croatia-Ljubljana and then back to Germany.

Thanks

Hi!

It's a good idea to go to Amsterdam with EuropaSpezial tickets - book them early as there is only a limited number available.

Amsterdam - Paris :arr: https://rail.cc/en/amsterdam-paris-train/f1472
Paris - La Rochelle :arr: TGV is certainly the best solution, there are several direct ones every day. Ask for several connections to maybe get a reservation for only 3€ instead of 10€; La Rochelle is nice for one day or so, if you have time you also could take a bus and go to Ile de Ré.
La Rochelle - Bordeaux :arr: Several free trains, check with the schedule planner: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
Bordeaux - San Sebastian :arr: You can save 3€ reservation when using a normal TER (regional train) instead of the TGV services. However, they only run to Hendaye, so you'd need to go to Irun with EuskoTren which isnt included in InterRail. From there, use the free RENFE Cercanias service to San Sebastian.
San Sebastian - Madrid :arr: No night train! There are two direct Alvia services which are certainly your best option. These are trains with compulsory reservation!
Madrid - Barcelona :arr: Cheapest night train should be the Estrella to Cerbere. Or use one of the fast AVE trains (only 3 hours, 10€ reservation) during the day.
Barcelona - Marseille :arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/marseille-to-nice And to answer your question: Nice is probably a nicer place to go to, especially for first-time InterRailers. :) If you have time, think about the Petit Train Jaune as well: https://rail.cc/blog/little-yellow-train-video/
Marseille - Mulhouse :arr: Again, use the schedule planner for free connections

The 10 in 22 is the best option for your trip - you would even have one or two spare days in case you get stuck somewhere. I cant tell if a trip to Eastern Europe is better - both routes would be very nice. Difficult to judge...what would you like to do and see during your trip?
