Hey!
It's my first time in this forum and i found it already really usefull about the information.
Anyways.
It's my first time for travelling europe with train so i want some suggestions.
I'm departing 1st of July from A place near Utrecht heading to Belgrade in the beginning.
My endpoint is going to be Greece (either Thessaloniki or Alexandroupolis although i prefer Thessaloniki) through Balkan countries but i'm not sure yet depending on the price. The dates that i have available is 1st to 8tth of July.
The thing i want to ask is that if it is better to book a ticket (and what's the price) from Utrecht to Belgrade and then
a Balkan pass for 5 days in the Balkan countries or if it's better to book a whole interrail pass for all the 7-8 days of my trip
(and how much is going to cost).
Furthermore i would like to know, if i have to buy a balkan pass if i can do this in an other country and if there are differences
in the prices.
Ah, i forgot to say that i'm 27 so i'm not going for the reduced prices but the normal ones.
I hope i get some help to conclude to my trip early..!
Cheers,
D.

Hi D.
Mmmh... hard to say as I only know InterRail fares ... not single rail ticket fares or other passes ... as it is an InterRail forum ... :)
So the best will be to ask at a station for the fare Utrecht to Belgrade.
If you want to travel by InterRail, you could do it this way... depends on your stops along the route...
InterRail Global pass 5 days in 10: https://rail.cc/en/interrail
1) night train Utrecht-Munich: https://rail.cc/en/amsterdam-munich-night-train/f3745
Also possible by day trains, then it is FREE of supplements. Otherwise you will have to pay for the type of bed you want in the night train.
Keep in mind, with IR you can not travel for free in your country of residence, so you would need a ticket until the border:
https://rail.cc/en/how-to-interrail
2) Munich-Vienna-Budapest: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/munich-budapest-en-463/55
FREE of any supplements = included in InterRail.
3) Budapest-Belgrade: https://rail.cc/en/budapest-belgrade-night-train/f3370
Also possible by direct and FREE day train.
4) Belgrade-Thessaloniki: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/belgrade-to-thessaloniki
But also possible by FREE and direct day train.
Keep in mind the nice rule concerning night trains: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train
For the exact planing use the European rail timetables: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
CONCLUSION: you can do this travel with the InterRail Global Pass 5 in 10 without any supplements or extra fees using the day trains. If you use the night trains, you have to pay for your seat or bed in these trains - but at the same time you save the money for hostels.

Thank you. :)
