Hey guys!
So me and my best friend just got to the point where we've created a tentative route for our interrail-trip this July/August.
We will be travelling on a 22 day global pass(maybe the 10 in 22) starting late July. We don't want to be too specific about our journey, but we figured it might work to have some sort of plan up ahead. So, we took all of the places we wanted to see and threw away two thirds. Our route now consists of:

Prague
We will be staying here for five nights with a bunch of friends in an apartment.

Vienna
We then plan to take of to Vienna and stay there for two nights.

Venice
This is where things get uncertain. We now rail our way down to Italy, and landed on Venice as our first stop.
Lately I've heard a lot of stories about how Venice is so overrated etc. so we're not completely sure wether or not it's worth our time.

Riomaggiore
Now the plan is to spend som time on the northwestern coast of Italy in a nice coast village(You know, like the ones you see on TV), and we've searched out Riomaggiore as a good(at least beautiful) place to go. Now, do you have any other recommendations for beautiful villages or towns along the shore of Italy? This is something we really want to do.

Marseille
Now it's time for some sunbathing and bathing in general. We don't really want to stay in Marseille, but in lack of wisdom we wrote it down. Do you have any ideas on great places to go to just really chill out on a beach? Perhaps meet some other nice travelling people?

Barcelona
Railing over the pyrenees to Barcelona. Any advice on scenic railways here?
This is a bit uncertain, we will only go here if we have the time.

Paris
Mandatory urban life in Paris. Can't wait. What train is the best from Barcelona to Paris?

Amsterdam
Final stop Amsterdam for a few nights. My buddy then flies home, and I continue my trip by rail north through Germany and Denmark back to good ol' Norway.

So, I was wondering if you possibly have any input on our route. Please consider this is our first time on a backpacking trip. We're thinking we might have to many stops, so that we might not get as much time as we want everywhere. This might be the wrong subforum to ask, but: is there anywhere you REALLY reccomend going? Anyways, thanks in advance.

Hi Julian...

Just some thoughts for you to think about:

- Replace Venice by Florence, or just rush trough Venice, but overnight is expensive.

- If you have the time, have a stop as well in Krakow (Poland - a lot of students and good night life) and/or Budapest (definitely worth to stay and cheap hostels there).

- Along the French coast replace Marseilles by Nice. A nice hostel is the Villa Saint Exupery - good to meet other travelers. Search at [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux] for this hostel.

- On your way back from Barcelona to Paris, travel trough the Pyrenees. A really scenic route with a free roller coaster trains:

And even cheaper than the direct night train:

I hope this will help you a little bit ... :)
And if you want to support our forum and not just an anonymous company, buy your official InterRail pass at [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you, Peter :)
